The endocannabinoid system (ECBS) is a group of endocannabinoids and receptors that the human body uses to communicate between cells, and regulate the activities of almost every organ, including the immune, gastrointestinal, nervous, endocrine, and reproductive systems.
Endocannabinoids are molecules made by your body. They’re similar to cannabinoids, but they’re produced by your body. Cool, right? Your body makes these cannabinoids to communicate with cells throughout the body, regardless of how much (or little) you supplement with cannabinoids like THC and CBD. The ECBS is complicated and still not fully understood, but research has shown it modulates almost all parts of the body.
So your body produces its own cannabinoids, the same compounds found in cannabis plants to keep these functions healthy. Then it should be no surprise that studies done on cannabis (Marijuana and Hemp) have repeatedly shown positive impacts in helping so many health struggles. A functional endocannabinoid system has wide-ranging impacts because it is able to simultaneously balance so many systems. This is a great explanation for why people who use cannabis derived products see benefits in many areas of health, not just one specific system. We’ve had people use our creams for inflammation relief and then report better sleep.
Whether you use cannabis products or not, cannabinoids are a part of the human body. CBD, which stands for cannabidiol, is one of the two major cannabinoids (THC being the other major but federally illegal cannabinoid). But these are not the only cannabinoids, there are at least 113 identified cannabinoids that are derived from cannabis plants. This is a very new area of research, but studies have shown these minor cannabinoids can have a major impact on the chemistry and impact of cannabis products. In fact, Israeli researchers found cannabis products made with all the available major and minor cannabinoids to be substantially more effective than those with only one or two. This is why in order to have a real impact on the endocannabinoid system, you need “Full Spectrum” products that contain more than just CBD.
